The Healer's Self-Care Guide

Principles of self-care for healers — energy hygiene, preventing burnout, the golden rule, and practical daily practices to stay healthy while serving others.

Your Field Is Your Instrument

In healing, your energy field is used as a conduit for the healing energies needed by others. Your field must vibrate in the frequency needed — so you constantly vary its vibration, transmitting different intensities of light.

This speeds up your own evolution (changes in frequency break holding patterns and release blocks) but can deplete you if you don't care for yourself. You don't generate the energy you transmit — you raise your frequency to match what's needed, then entrain energy from the UEF.

The Voltage Rule

As long as your voltage is higher than the patient's, you transmit to them.If you try to heal when very tired, your voltage may be weaker than the patient's — and you could pick up negative energies of disease.

If you're very healthy, your system will clear low energies by energizing or repelling them. If worn out, you may take longer to clear them. If you have a tendency toward a particular illness, you could exacerbate your own situation.

Heart Meridian Research

Studies by Hiroshi Motoyama measured healer and patient acupuncture lines before and after healing. In many cases, the healer's lines for a particular organ were low after healing — but recovered their original strength a few hours later.

Motoyama also showed that the healer's heart meridian was usually strongerafter a healing, indicating the heart chakra is always used in healing.

The Golden Rule for Healers

The Golden Rule:

  1. First: The self and what nourishes the self
  2. Then: Deep pause for consideration
  3. Then: The nourishment of others

Healers who don't follow this will eventually suffer from burnout and may risk disease from energy depletion.

Daily Preparation

Before a day of healing:

  1. Do physical exercise in the morning (30-45 minutes)
  2. Meditate to center yourself and open chakras
  3. Do joint exercises to open acupuncture meridians
  4. Do chakra charging exercises (levels 1-7)
  5. Color breathing meditation to charge the aura
  6. Vibrating exercise for grounding
  7. Sitting meditation for centering
  8. Drink a large glass of water

Gathering Energy for Healing

Before a day of healings, gather energy and focus on your purpose:

  • • Meditate the evening before or the morning of the healing day
  • • Allow one minute per patient
  • • Hold your mind completely blank while drawing in energy for one minute per patient
  • • Or focus your mind on each patient while drawing in energy
  • • Visualize or feel energy flowing into you

Caring for the Healing Space

  • • Choose a room with direct sunlight and access to open air
  • • Smudge with cedar and sage (Native American tradition) — start at the easternmost point, move clockwise, with a door open
  • • Keep crystals around the room to collect DOR — clean in sea salt + spring water overnight
  • • Use negative ion generators
  • • Never work in an unventilated room
  • • Never work with fluorescent lights (they interfere with aura pulsation)
  • • Epsom salts + alcohol in a saucepan, lit, carried around the room

Caring for Your Energy System

Sea Salt Bath

If you accumulate DOR: 20-minute bath in warm water with 1 pound sea salt + 1 pound baking soda. Rest afterward (draws large quantities of energy out).

Sunbathing

Lie in sunshine to recharge. Be intuitive about how long. Trust when your body says enough.

Hydration

Drink a full glass of spring water after each healing. So should the patient. Running water through your system carries away DOR and prevents bloating.

Crystals to Wear

Amethyst over solar plexus (strengthens field, less permeable). Rosy quartz over heart (protects heart). Choose a crystal slightly stronger than your field — too strong will deplete you; too weak will drag you down.

Crystals for the Patient

Large rosy quartz in left hand (heart meridian). Large clear quartz in right hand. Large amethyst with iron deposits on 1st/2nd chakras (grounding, keeps field pulsating). Smoky quartz at solar plexus. A clear quartz "scoop" (1.5" × 3.5") for cleansing.

The Importance of Personal Time

One of the most important things a healer needs is private personal time and space. This is not easy — most healers are in great demand.

It is imperative to be able to say: "No, I need time for myself now," no matter how great the demand. When you need time, give it to yourself. If you don't, you'll get depleted and have to stop practicing anyway.

Don't wait till there's nothing more to give. Rest now. Give time to hobbies and personal pleasures. Lead a full personal life that provides for your needs. If you don't, you'll eventually try to get those needs met by patients — developing dependencies that interfere with healing.

Recognizing Burnout

Signs you may be depleted or burning out:

  • • Accumulating DOR in your body — feeling heavy, sluggish
  • • Vibrations slowing down, getting weaker
  • • Sensitivity decreasing (you may not notice — sensitivity decreases with vibrations)
  • • Feeling drained after healings rather than energized
  • • Developing dependencies on patients
  • • Getting sick frequently
  • • Feeling resentful about demands

If you notice these signs, stop. Take time for yourself. You cannot serve others from an empty cup.

Preventing Energy Depletion

  • • Always channel, never radiate — connect to the UEF, don't use your own energy
  • • Keep your voltage higher than the patient's — don't heal when tired
  • • Wear protective crystals
  • • Drink water after every healing
  • • Take sea salt baths regularly
  • • Get plenty of rest, sunshine, and fresh air
  • • Maintain daily exercise and meditation practice
  • • Take days off — no healing work
  • • Have your own support system — friends, colleagues, a healer for yourself
  • • Continue personal growth work — clear your own blocks

Healer, Heal Thyself

Your first challenge is to heal yourself. Focus on that, then find ways to help others heal themselves. This leads to your development as a healer.

If you take care of yourself, healing someone with the same disease you have tendencies toward may actually help you learn to generate the frequencies needed to cure yourself.

Closing

"Love and honor yourselves as we honor you. After all, we are in the presence of the Divine when we are with you. You are fully held in the arms of God and loved. Know this, and you shall be home free."
