The path from dedication through tests, fear, truth, Divine will, love, faith, power, and grace — the healer's six-year journey through the stages of becoming a healer.
Dedication
"To become a healer means dedication. Not to any specific spiritual practice, religion, or set of rigid rules, but dedication to your particular path of truth and love."
— Heyoan
Your practice of truth and love will probably change as you travel through life. There are many roads to "Heaven" — as many as there are souls returning home. New ways are continually being formed from the depths of the human soul. When you learn to flow completely, without resistance, with that inner creative movement, then you are home.
Tests
As soon as you dedicate yourself to your true path, you become aware of an overall process taking place in your life. This process carries you through inner landscapes that change your personal reality. You begin seeing cause-and-effect relationships between inner and outer worlds.
the healer was led through a step-by-step process designed to help her learn spiritual law. She spent long periods concentrating on truth, Divine will, and love. After each period, she felt tested — finding herself in situations where it was very difficult to stay with truth, love, or know Divine will.
Eventually she saw that these tests are designed (with her full agreement) by a consciousness much greater than hers. She is part of that greater consciousness. Ultimately, she designs the tests. The "ego-me" usually wants no part of it; the wiser part knows better.
Dealing with Fear
The first thing you face after committing to your path is fear.
Fear is the emotion of being disconnected from the greater reality. Fear is the emotion of separation. Fear is the opposite of love (connection to unity).
"It is not a matter of destroying fear, but of knowing its nature and seeing it as a less powerful force than the power of love. It is illusion. Fear is only looking in the mirror and making faces at oneself."
— Emmanuel
Exercise: Find Your Fears
If you let go and surrender to your Divine Spark, you'll see you probably need to face it. As you go through the feared experience, fear transforms into loving compassion — including the experience of dying.
Truth
When the healer moved to the Phoenicia Pathwork Center, she was immediately faced with the issue of truth. Was she speaking truth, or convincing herself of a certain reality for convenience?
She was stunned at how she rationalized herself into believing things to validate behavior. Her major defense was blaming someone else.
Slowly, after examining behavior, she saw cause-and-effect working in clearer ways. She was, in fact, creating those negative experiences. Buried under painful creations, she found an intent to actually live that way — called "negative intent."
Exercise: Find Your Negative Beliefs
Fill in these sentences for yourself:
"All men are ________"
"All women are ________"
"In a relationship I will be hurt in the following ways ________"
"Maybe I will get sick and die of ________"
"I will be ripped-off in the following ways ________"
"I will lose ________ if I don't ________"
Negative intent is based on (1) belief systems like "life is basically hard" and (2) negative pleasure — actually enjoying negative experiences. You feel the pleasure of being the "good one" while others are "bad." Negative pleasure is distorted positive pleasure, based on separation rather than unity.
Divine Will
After two years of truth work, the healer realized she was having trouble with her will. She would change decisions, had many levels of "wanting" issues. Deep inside exists a spark of Divine will — God's will within every human being.
Many experience Divine will as outside themselves — always seeking someone to tell them what to do, leading to worthlessness. the healer decided to align all the little wills with the Divine spark inside. She used this commitment from the Guide Lectures:
"I commit myself to the will of God.
I give my heart and soul to God.
I deserve the best in Life.
I serve the best cause in Life.
I am a divine manifestation of God."
She made this commitment several times daily for two years, until it became apparent she was pretty good at finding Divine will inside.
Emmanuel said: "Your will and God's will are the same... when something brings you joy and fulfillment, it is the will of God speaking through your own heart."
Love
After truth and will, the healer spent two years concentrating on giving love in whatever way was needed. She found many forms of love, all saying:
Giving is receiving is giving is receiving. The hardest is learning self-love. If you don't infuse yourself with love, how can you give it to others?
Self-Love Exercises
Exercise 1: Find Something Easy to Love
Find the thing easiest for you to love — a flower, tree, animal, or work of art. Sit with it and give it your precious love. After doing this many times, see if you can extend that love to yourself. Anyone having such a precious gift is certainly worth loving.
Exercise 2: Mirror Meditation
Sit in front of a mirror for 10 minutes. Love that person. Do not be critical — only positive compliments allowed. Every time you criticize yourself, start over. Can you make it to 10 minutes without one criticism?
Faith
After the six-year period of truth, Divine will, and love, great changes had taken place. the healer was aligned with a strong faith in the benign abundance of the universe.
Stages of faith:
The reward for living in truth becomes the pleasure of life in each moment — not waiting for the spiritual "goody." You're receiving it right now.
Christ on the Cross
When Christ was on the cross, he had the faith to acknowledge he no longer felt his faith: "Father, why hast thou forsaken me?" He was being meticulously honest. In that moment he had lost his faith. He didn't hide it or try to change it. He loved himself by honestly expressing his dilemma.
Later, he regained faith: "Father, into your hands I commit my soul."
Dealing with Time
Faith helped the healer deal with her lifelong trouble: wanting things immediately.
"Having patience is a direct statement of faith in the Divine plan. It is the acceptance that everything is right for you as it is now. Impatience ultimately means you do not believe you can create what you want — lack of faith in the self and the Divine plan."
the healer's affirmation: "I want to honor my commitment to being on the physical plane by honoring the time it takes to accomplish things here." The apparent slowness between cause and effect is built into this plane for a reason.
Power
At one point, the healer had a sudden increase in power flowing through her hands — with a new set of guides. She was working on an infected toe. Strong blue-silver light streaked through; the patient cried out. When she moved differently, soft white cloudy energy took all pain away.
She was ecstatic and told her healing teacher: "C., there was so much power flowing through me!" Her teacher answered:
"Well, that is it; do you want to heal with love or with power?"
the healer decided she wasn't ready for that much power. She enjoyed it too much in a "Wow! Look at me!" way. She sent the guides away and didn't work with them for two years. When she was ready, she had learned much more about love.
Grace
With truth, Divine will, and love leading to faith leading to power, we make room for Grace. Grace is received by letting go to Divine Wisdom and is experienced as Bliss.
It is experiencing unity in all things and complete safety no matter what happens. It is knowing that every experience — including illness and death — is a lesson we create for ourselves on the pathway home.
"The state of Grace needs the recipient in order to be complete. You are held in the hand of God and totally loved. And when that love can be received, the circuit is completed."
— Emmanuel
Who Is Healed?
The healer must remember it is the healing of the soul that we work for. Death does not imply failure — it probably means healing. The healer must live in two worlds: spiritual and physical.
Emmanuel on going to a healer:
"Every physical body is a schoolroom, and every disease is a lesson. Not in a punitive way — you have written your own text; you have chosen your own bodies. If ultimately someone dies, you must see it as a blessed event. That soul has completed its task. There are no failures in spiritual healing; there are only steps. Never be afraid to put your hand on another with love and compassion."

Heyoan's Closing Words
"Do not set judgment upon yourself from the above questions. We are all walking a path of purification, and love is the most healing agent of all. Do not reject yourself, saying you can never do all of this. You can and you will. It is simply a matter of accepting where and who you are now as perfect in your imperfections."
"Your personal changes toward health and wholeness affect those around you — not only those nearby but all sentient beings on the earth; indeed the earth herself. Above all, love and honor yourselves as we honor you. After all, we are in the presence of the Divine when we are with you. You are fully held in the arms of God and loved. Know this, and you shall be home free."
