East-West Synthesis
This system unites the ancient yogic science of chakras, kundalini, and pranayama with Western psychology, chiropractic, and mind-body science.
Part 1: Hatha Yoga for the Body
Sukhasana: The Firm Seat
Sukhasana · Posture
The foundation of all practice. Sukhasana is the simple cross-legged seated posture that stabilizes the body for meditation. If the mind can influence the body (psychosomatics), the converse is equally true — the body influences the mind (somatopsychics).
Technique: Sit cross-legged on a firm surface. Spine erect, head balanced. Hands on knees. Body still. Become a frozen, transcendent sculpture of living flesh.
Shavasana: The Mind-Body Relaxer
Shavasana · Relaxation
The corpse pose — systematic deep relaxation. Lie flat on the back, arms at sides, palms up, feet slightly apart.
Technique: Lie flat. Close eyes. Systematically tense and relax each body part from feet to head. Then lie completely still. Scan the body for residual tension and release it.
Yoni Mudra: The Voice of Silence
Yoni Mudra · Mudra
A sealing technique that closes the senses to external input, turning awareness inward.
Technique: Sit in sukhasana. Place thumbs on ears, index fingers on closed eyes, middle fingers on nostrils, ring fingers on upper lip, little fingers on lower lip. Seal the senses. Turn awareness inward.
Part 2: Raja Yoga for the Mind
Polarization
Polarization · Energy Technique
The practice of directing energy between the poles of the body — the crown (positive) and the base (negative).
Technique: Inhale, drawing energy up from the base to the crown. Exhale, allowing energy to flow down from the crown to the base. Circulate the energy.
Concentration
Dharana · Mental Practice
The practice of one-pointed attention. Concentration is the foundation of all higher practice.
Technique: Choose a focal point — a candle flame, a symbol, or the breath. Hold the attention there. When the mind wanders, gently bring it back. Start with 5 minutes, build to 30.
Pranic Rejuvenation
Prana Healing · Healing
The technique of channeling life force (prana) through the hands for self-healing and the healing of others.
Technique: Establish a connection to the universal energy field. Inhale, drawing prana into the crown. Exhale, directing it down the arms and out through the palms. Place hands over the area needing healing.
Part 3: Laya Yoga for the Super-Sensible Body
Laya Yoga: The Psychic Centers
Laya Yoga · Chakra Practice
Laya Yoga works with the psychic centers (chakras) to dissolve (laya) ordinary consciousness into higher awareness.
Technique: Bring awareness to the base of the spine. Visualize the chakras as lotuses along the spine. Move awareness from base to crown, pausing at each.
Chakra Dharana: Focusing Psychic Power
Chakra Dharana · Concentration
The practice of concentrating on each chakra in turn, activating and balancing it.
Technique: For each chakra: visualize its color, repeat its seed syllable (bija mantra), and feel its quality. Root: red, LAM. Sacral: orange, VAM. Solar plexus: yellow, RAM. Heart: green, YAM. Throat: blue, HAM. Third eye: indigo, OM. Crown: violet, silence.
Solar Plexus Charging
Manipura Charging · Energy Practice
The solar plexus (Manipura) is the body's primary energy storage center. Charging it increases vitality, willpower, and personal power.
Technique: Bring awareness to the solar plexus. Breathe into this area. Visualize a golden sun radiating warmth and light. With each breath, the sun grows brighter.
Part 4: Siddha Yoga and Supernormal Powers
Yogic Power Flows
Siddhis · Advanced Practice
The classical yoga texts describe supernormal powers (siddhis) that arise from deep practice. These are not the goal — they are side effects of deep practice.
Technique: Continue regular practice. As concentration deepens and the energy body strengthens, certain capacities may awaken naturally. Do not chase them. The goal is always liberation, not power.
Part 5: Gnana Yoga for the Inner Life
Meditation and Inner Being
Dhyana · Meditation
The culmination of concentration (dharana) is meditation (dhyana) — the state where the meditator, the object of meditation, and the process of meditating merge into one.
Technique: Sit. Concentrate. When concentration becomes effortless, dhyana begins. Do not try to force meditation — it arises. Your job is to create the conditions and let it come.
Part 6: Tantra Yoga for the Higher Life
Tantra Yoga for the Shared Life
Tantra · Advanced Practice
Tantra uses all of life — including relationships, emotions, and sensory experience — as the path. Unlike ascetic paths that withdraw from the world, tantra engages it.
Technique: Practice presence in all activities. Eating, walking, talking, loving — all become meditation. The key is full presence, not the activity itself.
