Exploration & Depth

Age regression, past-life experiences, automatic writing, dream incubation — the deeper applications of trance. Always with safety protocols.

Safety First

These techniques access deeper subconscious material. Always ask your subconscious permission first (using ideomotor signals) before regressing to any memory. Some experiences may be too frightening to face without professional support. If you have trauma history, PTSD, or dissociative tendencies, do not attempt these alone — work with a licensed therapist.

Age Regression

LeCron's powerful technique for reliving past experiences. In trance, you can recall events not just as memories, but by reliving them with all five senses — seeing, hearing, feeling, smelling, and tasting as if you were there again.

Two types of regression:

  • • Revivification (deep trance): You become the age suggested — thinking, speaking, and feeling as that child. Requires somnambulistic depth.
  • • Dual awareness (light trance): You relive the experience while also knowing you're an adult in a chair. Safer and more common. This is the type you'll use.

The Protocol:

  1. Induce and deepen trance to at least medium depth
  2. Ask permission: "Is it all right for me to recall [specific event]?" (Use ideomotor signals. If NO, do not proceed.)
  3. "I am going back to [recent event]. I remember it, and now I relive it."
  4. Re-enter the memory: feel the seat, see the table, smell the food, hear voices
  5. If vague, suggest: "The scene becomes clearer and clearer"
  6. To end: "I am returning to the present" — count to three and emerge

Start with pleasant memories (a favorite meal, a happy day) before attempting therapeutic regression to difficult events. Build skill and confidence first.

Therapeutic Regression

For addressing the root cause of a problem, regression can reveal when and how a pattern began. LeCron's example: a dentist who gagged whenever anything entered his mouth. Through regression, he discovered that at age 6, his brother had dropped worms into his mouth. Once he consciously understood this, the gagging disappeared.

"I am going back to the origin of [problem]. My subconscious will take me to the relevant event. [Ask ideomotor: Is it all right to recall this?] I am now at the time when this pattern began. I see what happened. I understand now. That event is over. It is in the past. The response I developed no longer serves me. I am an adult now. I am safe. I release this old pattern."

Past Life Regression

Neutral Framing:

Whether past life experiences are literal memories, metaphorical expressions of the subconscious, or creative constructions — they can be therapeutically valuable. This module makes no claim about reincarnation. The experience itself can bring insight, healing, and understanding regardless of its ontological status.

The American School of Hypnosis manual includes past life regression as a standard technique. Michael Talbot's "Your Past Lives" provides extensive protocols.

Protocol:

  1. Induce and deepen to a comfortable trance level
  2. "I am going back beyond this lifetime to a previous existence that has relevance to my current life."
  3. Use a staircase or corridor with many doors, each leading to a past life
  4. "I open a door and find myself in another time, another place, another life."
  5. Observe: What do I see? Who am I? What year is it? What am I doing?
  6. Explore the key events of that life — the joys, the challenges, the death
  7. Ask: "What lesson does this life have for me now?"
  8. Return to the present with the insight gained

Always suggest: "I observe with detachment. I am safe. I remember that I am here, now, in this life. Whatever I experience is information, not danger."

Automatic Writing

A channel for subconscious-to-conscious communication. In trance (or light trance with eyes open), you allow your hand to write without conscious direction. The subconscious guides the pen, revealing thoughts, memories, or insights not accessible to the conscious mind.

  1. Induce a light trance, then open your eyes while maintaining relaxation
  2. Hold a pen over paper. Relax your hand completely.
  3. "My subconscious will guide my hand to write. I allow it to flow without conscious control."
  4. Wait. Doodles, single words, or full sentences may emerge.
  5. Don't analyze while writing — just let it flow.
  6. Read what you've written afterward, with curiosity.

This works because the ideomotor response (the same mechanism as the pendulum) extends to larger muscle movements. With practice, automatic writing can access deep subconscious material and creative insights.

Dream Incubation

Programming your dreams for problem-solving, creative insight, or emotional processing.

"Tonight, as I sleep, I will have a dream that addresses [specific question or problem]. The dream will offer insight or a solution. When I wake, I will remember the dream clearly. My subconscious works through the night to help me."

Give this suggestion at bedtime during the sleep-onset window. Keep a journal by your bed to record dreams immediately upon waking. Cross-reference with your Dream Journal tool for pattern tracking.

Time Distortion

The subconscious doesn't experience time the way the conscious mind does. In trance, you can stretch or compress subjective time:

  • • Stretching comfort: "This comfortable feeling is like a long, enjoyable movie. Time expands. Comfort lasts far longer than clock time suggests."
  • • Compressing pain: "Discomfort passes quickly, like a brief scene in a film. Time contracts around discomfort."
  • • Accelerated study: "In this state, I accomplish in minutes what would normally take hours. Time expands for learning."

The drowning man who sees his whole life flash by is an extreme example — the subconscious can compress an entire lifetime into seconds. This capacity is available in trance for productive purposes.

Future Pacing

The mirror of regression — projecting forward to experience a desired future. This builds the "success mechanism" Maltz describes:

"I move forward in time to [specific future date]. I have achieved my goal. I see myself there — where am I? What do I see around me? Who is with me? How do I feel? I experience this future fully. I feel the satisfaction, the joy, the gratitude. I notice what steps led me here. I bring this knowledge back to the present. I know what to do. I am already on the path."

Regression Protocol

0/5

Enter at least medium trance

Use ideomotor signals

Relive the memory with all senses

Gain insight and let go

Count up and emerge

Reflect

What past event or pattern did you explore? What did your subconscious reveal that you didn't consciously know?
