Forgiveness Release

A practice of gently releasing resentment. Not excusing or forgetting, but freeing the heart from the weight of held pain. Found in every major tradition.

Guidance

Sit comfortably. Take several slow breaths. Bring to mind someone you carry resentment toward. Do not force — if it is too much, choose a smaller hurt. Notice the weight of holding this. Where do you feel it in your body? Acknowledge: This person caused pain. That is real. Now ask: What would it feel like to set this down? Not to excuse — to release. Silently say: I release what I cannot change. I free myself from this weight. This may take many practices. That is okay. Forgiveness is a process, not a moment. Rest in the possibility of release.
