What Is Mind Power?

Synthesized from the teachings of John Kehoe. All personal stories, author-specific references, and proprietary claims have been removed.

Your mind is the most powerful creative force in the universe. Every thing you see around you — every building, every invention, every relationship — began as a thought in someone's mind. Mind power is the deliberate, systematic use of your thoughts to shape your reality.

The Five Fundamental Laws

The Law of Concentration

What you consistently focus your attention on grows in your life. Concentration is the ability to hold a thought or image in your mind to the exclusion of everything else. The mind is a magnifying glass — what you hold under it intensifies.

The Law of Repetition

Repetition is the key to reprogramming the subconscious mind. What you repeat daily becomes your reality. The subconscious does not distinguish between real and imagined — it simply records what is repeated.

The Law of Visualization

Your subconscious cannot distinguish between a real experience and one that is vividly imagined. When you visualize with detail and emotion, your subconscious accepts it as real and begins creating conditions to manifest it.

The Law of Belief

Your beliefs create your reality. What you believe at a deep level — about yourself, about life, about what is possible — shapes your experience. Beliefs are not facts; they are habitual thought patterns that can be changed.

The Law of Attraction

You attract into your life what you focus on. Like a tuning fork, your dominant vibration attracts matching circumstances. Focus on lack, attract lack. Focus on abundance, attract abundance.

Core Techniques

Conscious Mind vs Subconscious Mind

The conscious mind is the architect; the subconscious is the builder. The conscious mind chooses the blueprint — your thoughts, desires, and decisions. The subconscious receives these as instructions and works tirelessly to construct them in physical reality. Understanding this relationship is the first key to mind power.

  1. Recognize that your conscious thoughts are seeds planted in the subconscious.
  2. Choose your thoughts deliberately — they become your reality.
  3. Trust the subconscious to work on your instructions, even when you are not consciously thinking about them.

The Conscious Mind

Your conscious mind is your point of power. It is the only part of you that can choose, decide, and direct. Everything begins here. When you take control of your conscious thoughts, you take control of your life. Most people let their minds run on autopilot — reacting to circumstances rather than creating them. Mind power begins with reclaiming conscious control.

  1. Observe your thoughts throughout the day without judgment.
  2. When you catch a negative thought, consciously choose a better one.
  3. Set daily intentions each morning — decide what you want to create.

The Subconscious Mind

The subconscious is your silent partner. It manages your body, stores your memories, and executes your deep beliefs. It does not reason or judge — it simply accepts whatever the conscious mind repeatedly feeds it. Once a belief is planted in the subconscious, it works day and night to manifest it. This is why consistent repetition matters.

  1. Feed the subconscious with positive, specific images and statements.
  2. Use the moments just before sleep and just after waking — the subconscious is most receptive then.
  3. Be consistent — one positive thought cannot overcome years of negative programming, but daily repetition can.

The Process of Thoughts

A thought is a subtle but real energy. It travels outward from your mind, interacting with the energy of the universe. Like a seed planted in soil, a thought planted in consciousness grows. Your thoughts are not private — they radiate and influence the field around you. This is why your mental atmosphere affects others.

  1. See your thoughts as energy radiating outward, affecting the world around you.
  2. Choose thoughts that carry the energy of what you want to create.
  3. Notice how different thoughts feel in your body — the body is a truth-teller.

Thinking

Thinking is a deliberate act. Most people confuse having thoughts with thinking. Having thoughts is passive — the mind generates them automatically based on past conditioning. Thinking is active — you choose a subject and hold your attention on it. Deliberate thinking is the first practice of mind power.

  1. Set aside 10-15 minutes daily for deliberate thinking on a specific subject.
  2. Hold one question or idea in your mind and explore it from multiple angles.
  3. Write down insights that arise — they are gifts from the subconscious.

The Conscious and Subconscious

The conscious mind is the gatekeeper. Everything that enters the subconscious must first pass through the conscious mind. This is why you must be selective about what you let in — the news you watch, the conversations you have, the media you consume. All of it feeds the subconscious and shapes your reality.

  1. Audit your inputs — what are you feeding your subconscious daily?
  2. Reduce exposure to negative, fear-based, or limiting content.
  3. Increase exposure to positive, expansive, inspiring content.

The Law of Control

You have the power to control your thoughts. This is not a gift given to some and withheld from others — it is a natural human capacity. But like a muscle, it must be exercised. Start small. Control one thought. Then one minute of thoughts. Build from there.

  1. Practice the 'thought stop' — when a negative thought arises, say 'STOP' internally and redirect.
  2. Set a timer for 5 minutes and hold one positive image in your mind.
  3. Gradually increase the duration as your control strengthens.

Beliefs

Beliefs are the foundation of your reality. They are the deep assumptions you hold about yourself and the world. They were mostly formed in childhood, based on what you heard, saw, and experienced. Most beliefs are inherited, not chosen. The good news: what was learned can be unlearned and replaced.

  1. Identify a limiting belief: 'I am ___' or 'Life is ___' or 'Money is ___'.
  2. Ask: 'Where did this belief come from? Is it true? Who would I be without it?'
  3. Create a new empowering belief to replace it. Repeat it daily.

Imprinting

Imprinting is the process of planting a new belief in the subconscious. It combines repetition, emotion, and visualization. The subconscious responds to feeling more than words — so when you imprint, you must feel the truth of what you are saying. The feeling is the fuel.

  1. Write your new belief as a present-tense 'I am' statement.
  2. Say it aloud with conviction, feeling the emotion of it being true.
  3. Visualize a scene that embodies the belief. Repeat morning and evening for 30 days.

Acknowledge

Acknowledgment means recognizing and accepting your current reality without judgment. You cannot change what you do not acknowledge. When you honestly see where you are, you gain the power to move to where you want to be. Denial keeps you stuck; acknowledgment sets you free.

  1. Write down your current reality in one area of life — honestly, without spin.
  2. Acknowledge it without judgment: 'This is where I am, and that is okay.'
  3. From this place of honesty, set an intention for where you want to go.

Goal Setting

Goals give the subconscious a target. Without a goal, the subconscious wanders aimlessly. With a clear, specific goal, it has something to work toward. Write your goals in present tense, as if already achieved. This signals the subconscious that this is your new reality.

  1. Write 3-5 specific goals in present tense: 'I am ___' or 'I have ___'.
  2. Read them aloud morning and night, feeling the emotion of achievement.
  3. Take at least one action toward each goal daily, however small.

Visualization

Visualization is the deliberate creation of mental images. The subconscious responds to images more powerfully than words. When you visualize your goals as already achieved, you impress them on the subconscious. Make the images vivid — see colors, hear sounds, feel emotions.

  1. Sit comfortably, close your eyes, and breathe deeply.
  2. Create a vivid mental movie of your goal as already achieved.
  3. Engage all senses — see it, hear it, feel it. Practice for 5-10 minutes daily.

Affirmations

Affirmations are positive statements spoken in the present tense as if already true. They reprogram the subconscious by replacing old limiting thoughts with new empowering ones. The key is repetition and feeling — say them with conviction, not as a hollow recitation.

  1. Create 3-5 affirmations for your key goals.
  2. Say them aloud with conviction, 3 times each, morning and evening.
  3. Write them on cards and carry them — read them throughout the day.

Reprogramming

Reprogramming is the systematic replacement of limiting thoughts and beliefs with empowering ones. It is not a one-time event but a process. Be patient with yourself. The old programming was laid down over years; the new programming takes consistent repetition to become the default.

  1. Identify the top 3 limiting beliefs you want to change.
  2. Create empowering replacements for each.
  3. Use imprinting, visualization, and affirmations daily to install the new programming.

The Steel Trap

The Steel Trap is a technique for maintaining focus. Imagine your mind as a steel trap that closes around a single thought and will not let go. When distractions arise, the trap holds firm. This builds concentration power, which is the foundation of all mind power.

  1. Choose a single positive thought or image to focus on.
  2. Set a timer for 5 minutes. Hold the thought exclusively.
  3. When the mind wanders, gently but firmly bring it back. Do not let it escape.

The Vibration of Abundance

Abundance is a vibration before it is a bank balance. When you tune into the feeling of abundance — gratitude, appreciation, generosity — you align with the frequency that attracts more. The feeling comes first; the manifestation follows. Practice feeling abundant now.

  1. List 10 things you are grateful for right now — feel the gratitude in your body.
  2. Find opportunities to give — time, attention, money, kindness.
  3. Notice abundance everywhere — in nature, in smiles, in ideas.

Your Inner Compass

Your inner compass is your intuition — that quiet knowing beneath the noise of the mind. It always points toward your highest good. The challenge is that it speaks softly, while the fears and desires of the ego speak loudly. Mind power includes learning to hear the quiet voice.

  1. Sit in silence for 5 minutes daily. Just listen. No agenda.
  2. When faced with a decision, ask your inner compass, then wait for the answer.
  3. Act on the guidance, even when it doesn't make logical sense. Trust develops through testing.

7-Day Practice Program

Day 1

Observation

Observe your thoughts for 15 minutes. Do not change them. Simply notice how many are negative versus positive. Awareness is the first step.

Day 2

Concentration

Hold one positive image in your mind for 5 minutes. When your mind wanders, gently bring it back. Build concentration power.

Day 3

Belief Audit

Write down 5 beliefs you hold about yourself. For each, ask: Is this true? Where did it come from? Does it serve me?

Day 4

Imprinting

Choose one empowering new belief. Write it as an 'I am' statement. Say it aloud with emotion, morning and evening. Visualize it.

Day 5

Visualization

Create a vivid mental movie of one goal already achieved. See it, hear it, feel it. Practice for 10 minutes.

Day 6

Affirmations

Create 3 affirmations. Write them on cards. Carry them. Say them with feeling 3 times each, morning and evening.

Day 7

Integration

Review the week. What shifted? What felt powerful? Choose one practice to make daily. Mind power is a lifestyle, not a one-time event.
