Practical exercises to begin perceiving the universal energy field — from sky globules to tree auras, plant energy, and crystal emanations.
The Easiest Way to Begin
The easiest way to begin observing the universal energy field is to relax on your back in the grass on a sunny day and gaze at the blue sky. After some time, you'll see tiny globules of orgone making squiggly patterns against the blue.
They appear as tiny white balls, sometimes with a black spot, that appear for a second or two, leave a slight trail mark, and disappear. As you continue, you'll see the whole field pulsates in a synchronized rhythm.
Sky Globule Observations
Pay attention to how the globules change with conditions:
Apparently sunlight charges the globules.
Tree Auras
Shift your gaze to the edge of treetops against the blue sky. You may see a green haze around the trees. Curiously, there are no globules in this haze — but if you look closer, you'll see globules at the edge of the green haze changing their squiggly pattern and flowing into the aura of the tree, where they disappear.
The tree's aura is absorbing the tiny globules. The green appears in the leafing stage (spring and summer). Earlier in spring, the aura has a pink-reddish hue, similar to the red buds of trees.
Plant Auras
Look closely at a house plant under bright lights with a dark background behind it. You may see lines of blue-green flashing up the plant along the leaves in the direction of growth. They suddenly flash, then the color slowly fades, only to flash again — perhaps on the opposite side.
These lines react to your hand or a piece of crystal. As you draw the crystal away, the plant's aura and the crystal's aura stretch to maintain contact. They pull like taffy.
The Phantom Leaf Effect
Through Kirlian photography, people photograph an entire leaf after half is cut away — the "phantom leaf effect." Brennan observed this directly:
The aura of a leaf was simple aqua-blue. When she cut the leaf, the entire aura turned bloody maroon. She recoiled and apologized to the plant. When the aqua-blue reestablished in a minute or two, it showed definite signs of the missing part — but not as clearly as Kirlian photographs show.
Inanimate Objects & Crystals
Inanimate objects also have an aura. Most personal objects become imbued with the owner's energy and radiate it back. Gems and crystals show interesting auras with many layered, complicated patterns useful in healing.
For example, amethyst has a golden aura with golden rays streaking out from its naturally faceted points.
Exercise: See the Human Aura
From Chapter 7 — exercises to begin sensing the HEF:
Hand Circle Exercise
Partner Palm Exercise
Feeling Energy Bodies
Fingertip Gazing
What You'll See
Most people see a haze around the fingers and hands — somewhat like the heat wave over a radiator. Sometimes colored (blue tint), usually colorless at first. The energy bodies pull like taffy between fingertips.
When you move fingers so a different fingertip faces the other, the haze will at first follow the old finger and then jump to the closer fingertip.
Observing Other People's Auras
From Chapter 11 — exercises to observe others:
If you think you see something, it will be gone before you can say "That's it!" Make sure it's not an afterimage by looking at a blank wall spot. The auric phenomenon pulsates and doesn't stay. Don't do these exercises too long — you'll get tired.
Aura Goggles
Aura goggles can help develop your ability to see. They have a cumulative effect on eye sensitivity. Cobalt blue glass is best but hard to get. Most aura goggles are dark purple and work fine.
Don't do these exercises too long — you'll find yourself getting tired. Do a little every day and check what you see with illustrations and descriptions.
Psychic Spaces Exercise
Adults also infuse their space with their energy. These psychic spaces are safe nests for people. Try feeling out psychic spaces:
Check your impressions with the object's owner. Practice and you'll do better next time.
UEF Observation Practice — Step by Step
Lie on your back, gaze at blue sky
Observe treetop edges against sky
Observe houseplants in dim light
Observe crystals in dim light
Observe a person against white wall
Observe your own hands
Which practice helped you see energy most clearly? What did you observe — color, movement, or sensation?
