Testing Others (Traditional)
Steps
- 1Ask if they have pain in either shoulder — don't use that arm if so.
- 2Have the subject stand and hold one arm out directly in front, horizontal to the floor. Hand relaxed, not a tight fist.
- 3Place your first two fingers lightly on their arm, just above the bump of the wrist (the 'speed bump').
- 4Place your free hand on their opposite shoulder to support them.
- 5Have the subject state their name ('My name is Kim') — this is the baseline test.
- 6Smoothly and steadily increase downward pressure over about 3 seconds. The shoulder should stay locked.
- 7Repeat with a false statement (wrong name) — the arm should be weaker.
Tips
- ✓ Use smoothly increasing hydraulic pressure from zero
- ✓ As soon as you have your answer, release
- ✓ Push slowly and gently — don't bounce
- ✓ Keep fingers before the speed bump, not over it
- ✓ If it hurts, stop and try another method
General Tips for Self-Testing
- ✓ Keep the pressure light — resist only as much as you need to.
- ✓ Higher resistance = higher downward pressure — you're working against yourself.
- ✓ Find your perfect strength/resistance "dimmer switch" setting.
- ✓ Do a baseline test (yes/no) each time you begin.
- ✓ If it hurts, stop and try another method.
- ✓ Practice 100 times a day for 2 weeks to become proficient.
Reasons You Might Be Untestable
- • Dehydration — drink a glass of purified water and try again (both tester and testee).
- • Neck misalignment — may need to see a chiropractor, or roll a magnet down the spine.
- • Pushing too hard or too soft, resisting with too much or not enough force.
- • Trapped emotions welling up may make you temporarily untestable.
